Will water enter my engine if I install a cold air intake?

Under normal driving conditions this is usually not a concern, but lets face it harsh rains or a flood could cause your engine to ingest some water… not a good thing.  Obviously you will do your best to avoid the HYDROLOCK phenomenon by avoiding these storms and any large puddles.  Injen offers a Hydro-shield, which is a great addition to your intake system.  It is made from a material that repels water while still allowing plenty of air into your engine so it doesn’t starve.  Folks it is water repellent not water proof.  Remember water can’t be compressed and it doesn’t mix with oil….KEEP IT OUTTA YOUR ENGINE.

Will the Intake’s system oil screw up my Mass Air-Flow sensor?

We contacted Injen to double-check this one because having you replace any sensor is the last thing we want.   They assured us that the oil is harmless and they haven’t had any problems to date.  Not surprising, after all this is Injen… the creator of the worlds first tuned air intake system.

What if my engine gets too much air?

That would be impossible…. An automotive engine draws in a fixed amount of air on the intake stroke.  The concern is not enough air, you can’t get too much.  The colder the air, the denser it is. This helps the engine compress it better.  Bottom line; more air is good, more cold air is better.

Will this intake void my warranty?

This is one of those question you probably don’t really wanna know the answer to.  If your manufacturer spells out that all aftermarket parts will void the warranty then yes.  However, many of our customers have removed their intake prior to service or reasoned with the service department.  After all you’re adding these high performance parts to get the most out of YOUR car.  A good technician will be able to quickly deduce that aftermarket parts are not the root of all evil, only cheaply made ones.  If you’re overly worried about warranty concerns maybe you should look into some decals.  Hey they make the car look nice.

What type of maintenance am I looking at with this filter?

This depends on your environment.  As a rule of thumb clean your cold intake systems filter every 10000 miles.  Rotating your filter in between intervals helps bring clean spots into the air stream.  Remember you can’t go wrong with a pre-filter.  When in doubt just clean it… you spent the money and the time installing it so keep it clean or you will decrease your performance.  Always use the Injen recommended cleaner, it is formulated with the filter materials in mind.  Air dry on a sunny day; never use compressed air (this can blow holes right through your filter).  Remember patience is important, just let it air-dry… no banging on the ground or brushing is required.
