Why do I need this filter, I thought my intake system already came with a filter???
Your intake does come with a filter, a very high quality filter that you want to keep as clean as possible. That’s where the pre filter comes in. It’s a pack of five polyester filter elements that go on the outside of your Injen filter. It prevents the large debris from jamming up your filter. They are priced to be disposable because your main filter is not. It is great protection for those unexpected moments when you might hit a real dirty patch of air. Ever been in a situation where you should have rolled up your windows because some sand or dirt was kicked up on the road?? Maybe from a truck or a landscaper…. That same dirt gets sucked right into your engine or clogged your filter.
What if my engine gets too much air???
That would be impossible…. An automotive engine draws in a fixed amount of air on the intake stroke. The concern is not enough air, you can’t get too much. The colder the air, the denser it is. This helps the engine compress it better. Bottom line; more air is good, more cold air is better.
Will this intake system void my warranty???
This is one of those questions you probably don’t really wanna know the answer to. If your manufacturer spells out that all aftermarket parts will void the warranty then yes. However, many of our customers have removed their intake prior to service or reasoned with the service department. After all you’re adding these high performance parts to get the most out of YOUR car. A good technician will be able to quickly deduce that aftermarket parts are not the root of all evil, only cheaply made ones. If you’re overly worried about warranty concerns maybe you should look into some decals. Hey they make the car look nice.
